LOCATION AND OPENING TIMES

Where are you located?

We are at 7 Leicester Place at the north east corner of Leicester Square, just up from the Angus Steakhouse. Check out the home page for a map.

What time are you open?

We open our doors fifteen minutes before the first film of the day. We close twenty minutes after the last film has begun.

Is this the Leicester Square Theatre/where is the Leicester Square Theatre?

No, next door there is a pokey little doorway. That’s Leicester Square Theatre.

TICKETING

Can I buy tickets in advance?

Yes, just look up the screening on our website www.princecharlescinema.com. You can also book tickets for anything on our programme by visiting in person at the cinema during cinema when our box office is open or call our Box Office on 020 7494 3654. Booking over the phone incurs a small fee to cover credit card charges. The Box Office phone-line is open between 1:30pm to 8:30pm.

How much do tickets cost?

Sing-A-Long-A : £16 [no Mem. discount]

Internet Booking Fee 75p per ticket Lower ticket price is for our members!

PLEASE NOTE : Child tickets, which are only available for select performances, are valid for customers aged 15 and under. Performances with no Child ticket displayed on the website, are performances wherein no Child ticket is available.

I was given an ADMIT ONE for your cinema. What can I use them for?

Admit Ones are not valid for the following screenings; Sing-A-Long-A, All-Night Marathons, Triple or Double Features & any screenings with live Q&As / Intros. Every other screening in our programme is fine though

Sold out shows, will there be any returns?

We do from time to time getting returns on the night. You are welcome to come down and wait to find out. For popular shows we might have a returns queue, the ones at the head of the queue get first option on any returned tickets.

Is it really sold out?

Yes, if advised by our website or staff. The sold out sign disappears on line when there is any tickets returned.

Do you sell house seats?

Yes, this is strictly the choice of the duty manager and depends on if they think the seats will be needed.

Can I leave my details and you'll let me know when there are tickets?

No, we don’t have the manpower to accommodate this. Keep checking our website, there might be returns.

I have tried to call about a million times in the last half an hour, do you ever answer the phone?

If you call within box office opening times we will try to answer your call as best we can. There are only two phones and a limited number of staff and at busy periods priority is always given to customers at the box office.

Why are some tickets so cheap and others so dear?

Well, the seasonal films we have are off general release, so we pay less rental and don't have to charge you as much. New Release ones are newer and still on general release (still playing at other venues), so they cost more to rent, and more to see. Special Events are more expensive as we put in a lot more work into making the shows happen.

Is there a student discount?

Nope, not on tickets, but we do a concession membership, so you can join and save on tickets that way! Concession counts as Students, OAP's, Cinema Exhibitors Association Registered Disabled, Unemployed.

Are there group discounts?

We don't as a rule have a group discount policy (though there is for certain Singalonga Shows). If you have a very large group, speak with one of the cinema's Duty Managers, and they will see if we can do you a deal.

Do you offer discounts for disabled people?

On recommendation from the government, we will give a complimentary ticket for a carer to anyone in posession of a Cinema Exhibitors Association card or anyone with a registered carer card.

I'm a senior/student, does that give me a discount?

No, we only have members discounts but you can save £2.50 on the cost of a membership.

Can I bring my baby?

Please be aware this policy may change for special events. Basically if your baby is going to sit on your lap then there isn't a charge for a ticket. However if they start to cry then you'll have to take them out of the screen immediately. If they are a few years old and especially if they need a seat of their own, then we will charge for a ticket. Obviously infants are only allowed into U, PG or 12a screenings, even if they don't understand what's going on we still have to obey the certificates.

Can I use American Express?

No, we accept all other credit and debit cards though. AmEx charges are just too high for us. Sorry!

Can I get a refund?

Nope. All ticket purchases are final, tickets cannot be exchanged or refunded. Unless, of course, if we cancel a screening. If you don't like a film then that's something you should really take up with the director. Coming to us and saying you "Don't Get" The Tree Of Life will not cut the mustard. Telling us that The Room is awful will just get you laughed at.

Do you accept Compare The Meerkat 2for1?

No

MEMBERSHIP

How can I become a Member?

Simply come along to the Box Office (or buy online), fill out a form and give us £10.00 for the year, within two minutes you will be a card carrying Prince Charles Cinema member, with all the wonderful benefits this involves. Have a look at our Membership section for full details of the scheme.

Can I buy a membership as a gift for someone?

Yes you can, in the same way as you'd buy a membership for yourself either online or at the box office. If you have chosen to do this online, please proceed by filling in the form with the name of whomever you are buying the membership for. When asked for the contact details add their phone number BUT your email address as this email will be automatically added to our marketing database and will totally ruin the surprise. Once the transaction is complete, you'll get an email with instruction on how to collect the card from the box office.

I think my membership has run out but I'm not too sure and it doesn't tell me on the membership card - what do I do?!

We'd be happy to let you know when your membership runs to, please call the box office and quote your membership card number. You can also email boxofficemananger@princecharlescinema.com with any box office queries. We don't email a reminder at the end of a membership period or automatically take payment to renew your membership so it's worth keeping tabs on when you bought the membership.

I've lost my membership card, do I need to buy a whole new membership?

Not necessarily, we do issue replacement cards, these cost £3 and are available from our box office.

I've lost my membership card. Can I get a replacement?

If you have lost your card and it's still valid we can reprint you a new one for just £3.00. However if some mean person has stolen it with your bag and you reported it to the police, then bring the crime number to the box office and we will print you a new one for free (because we are nice like that).

I have forgotten my Membership card, can you look me up on the computer?

NO, You must bring your card to get the discount, that's why we gave it to you! Looking everyone up on the computer slows down queues and makes people miss the start of the film. One rule for all and there are no special cases!

FILMS

When do films start?

All regular performances start 10 minutes after the advertised time.

When will a certain film play?

We usually try and screen films as soon as we can, but it is usually limited by how well a film is performing elsewhere.

Why don't you programme further ahead?

The programme has to be kept as fresh as possible, so we limit ourselves to only having 2 weeks programmed at any stage. This means we can nab new films as and when they become available. The rep programme is booked much earlier and can be up to two months in advance.

Do you have a request board online?

No, but we have a rather large blackboard in our bar, feel free to leave your amazing film ideas here.

Do you show Chinese films?

Sometimes, check our listings as we normally have over a hundred titles on sale at any one time.

HOUSE RULES

Performance Start Times

All films start 10 minutes after the advertised start times.  For interactive screenings, such as our Sing-A-Long-A shows, the pre-show / introductions start 10 minutes after the advertised time.

Late arrivals

Management reserves the right to refuse admission to the screen once the film has started. If you arrive after the start of the film, you may be asked to sit towards the back of the cinema to minimse disturbance within the screen.

Phone useage

Please turn your phone off, or at the very least keep it on silent, and refrain from checking it for the duration of the films performance. Yes the light may be dim to you, but it is distracting to others so please keep it in your pocket. Facebook will still be there when the film has finished. Promise.

Food & Drink

Only food & drink purchases on site may be consumed within our screen so no sneaking in entire pizzas or two litre bottles of pop!

Alcohol

You are not permitted to consume alcohol not purchased on site. Our bar is open throughout the day, and we have a HUGE variety of stock, it is also againast our licence for you to consume alcohol not purchased on site so if you cheekily sneak in a can of SKOL and sip it in the back row and we get caught, we could lose our licence which wouldn't be nice would it?

E-Cigarettes

E-Cigarettes / Vaping is not permitted anywhere on site.

Respect your fellow cinema-goers

We ask that you refrain from talking, rustling through bags or doing anything which may distract those around you from watching the film. We all want to have the best possible experience when visiting the cinema, so we all need to play our part in making that happen.  If there is any issue in the screen which is impeding on your experience, please speak to an Usher or Duty Manager on site and we'll do what we can to help.

ALL-NIGHTERS

What time is the bar open until?

In most cases 11pm, however we do from time to time apply for a late license in which case the bar would be open until 3am.

What time will the Kiosk be open until?

The kiosk will be open all evening for soft drinks and snacks.

Can I go out and come back in again?

You may pop out for a quick smoke or some fresh air, but anyone leaving for more than 20mins will not be allowed back in to the venue.

Can I buy tickets for just one film? Can I skip a film?

No, you buy an all night ticket at much reduced rate for the number of films. You can stay as long as you want, but you need to be in your seat by 9:30pm at the latest or you will not be allowed entry.

How old do I have to be to attend an All Nighter?

If an All Nighter features a single 18 rated film, the entire All Nighter is then rated 18.

For those which carry a full slate of titles rated 15 or below, we will only admit those how are 15 or under if they are accompanied by a Parent or guardian [aged 18+] for the full duration of the marathon.  We understand that sometimes we host Disney and Harry Potter All Nighters and these are events which younger patrons would love to attend, but we must insist that all younger cinema fans have an adult with them when on site throughout the night.

Click HERE for THE RULES OF THE ALL-NIGHTER - always worth a read before coming down and joining in the fun!

SING-A-LONG-A SHOWS

Can you tell me more about the Sing-a-long-a shows?

For full details about the Sing-a-long-a sensation (Sing-a-long-a Rocky Horror Picture Show, Sound of Music, Joseph and others), your best bet is to visit the Sing-a-long-a website directly. They have all the details about the individual shows - from show dates to trailers and images from the shows.

Do I have to dress up?

No, but we do encourage audience participation, so we would love it if you did.

Do I need a ticket, can’t I just show you my booking reference?

No, tickets are checked and torn on the door, so please collect your tickets from the ATM’s outside before entering the venue.

Can I go out and come back in again without my ticket, will you remember me?

No, staff frequently get moved about within the venue so always keep you ticket on you if going to the loo, bar or kiosk.

Is it allocated seating?

Most of our shows are unallocated, if it is an allocated sho you will be asked where you would like to sit by our box office staff or given a choice by our website. We tend to only allocate our busy shows.

FACILITIES

How big are the screens?

Well, downstairs has 285 seats, upstairs 104. Both have nice big screens and booming sound.

Are there toilets upstairs?

No, toilets are located in the basement bar area.

Do you have disabled access?

We do not have disabled access at the moment as we were refused permission to put a stairlift in the building due to the narrowness of our staircase. The mechanics of the problem, make it look like this might never be possible. We have not given up though, you might be aware we installed ramps in to the building and in to the lower auditorium as well as removable seating and even part installed a disabled loo, only for the stair issue to catch us out. Until we can source a mechanical solution to transport from our foyer to the lower bar, we sadly will not have disabled access. The search will continue as we believe nobody should be excluded from what we programme at the PCC.

I think I left something behind in the auditorium! Do you have a lost property?

We do have a Lost Property of sorts. If you do happen to leave something behind (umbrellas and scarves are the most popular), come in and speak with a Duty Manager and they can have a look for you.

Can I hire the cinema?

YES, we are available to hire to show your film, promote your product, host your conference or anything else you may come up with. Please visit the Prince Charles Cinema Hire section for more details.

FOOD AND DRINK

Do you sell anything savoury?

No

Is your ice cream gluten/dairy/nuts free?

Always read the label as our range varies.

Do I get a discount off of popcorn and/or soft drinks with my member card?

There is no discount on popcorn but you do get a discount on bottles of juice as well as all alcoholic drinks.

MISCELLANEOUS

Where is the Charlie Chaplin statue?

Westminster Council took it away to fix it and never brought it back!

How do I join or leave the email list?

There is a link at the bottom of the homepage which will enable you to join (or leave) the email list.

How can I get a job at the Prince Charles Cinema?

The Prince Charles Cinema is always looking for talented, reliable, hardworking individuals. Simply drop in a CV at the front desk for the attention of the Duty Manager. Pop on it if you're looking for full or part-time work and what days of the week you're available on. Give us a smile and be polite when you hand it in and we may even put a little gold star on it. We keep all CV's for 3 months, and if a job comes up in that time we'll go through the pile and call people up for interviews. If you've got cash handling and especially cinema experience you'll be higher up the food chain. We can't hire anyone under 18 as you have to be able to watch all the films we show.

Can I apply for a job by leaving my CV?

Yes feel free to pass your CV on to a member of our team at box office and it will be considered the next time we do a round of recruitment.

Can I have one of your posters?

No, because of our programme we tend to bring back old classic films quite often, so we keep all our best posters in a library in the basement. However once in a while we have a big clear out and give bundles away for free. You just have to beat the staff to the best ones.

What About Cookies?

Cookies are small pieces of information that are stored by your browser on your computer's hard drive. They make it possible for us to track visitor statistics, although this is always done in aggregate, with no record of your individual details tracked or kept. It basically means we can work out if the website is working well and if the bits that our geeks spend ages writing are actually used or not. We're not selling on your data, we're not spying on you when you leave our site, we just use it to find out how best to improve what we do.
