To all of you,

After what has been a difficult month at the cinema and across the Country, we are relieved to see the current Covid Infection rate falling rapidly. In line with the Government relaxing Covid rules in England from 26th January 2022, the Prince Charles Cinema will follow suit and remove some of our Covid rules as well.

From Thu 26th we will no longer impose:

• The need to show a Covid Pass or proof of a passed test within 48hrs of the visit.

• We will also remove the socially distanced seating plan.

These requirements were originally put in place due to our fear for the safety of our customers and staff; especially when it seemed every other person was contracting the virus in the weeks leading up to Christmas.

We would like to thank all of our loyal customers and members for supporting the venue during this difficult period, by complying to these measures and doing your part to make our venue a safer place. Our advance sales are very strong thanks to you, for what is a very exciting programme in the coming months.

Obviously, we reserve the right to bring in any safeguards in the months ahead, that we feel will protect our customers and staff. The safety of our customers and staff will continue to be at the forefront, as we continue to navigate our way through this unprecedented time.

Also, we would like to apologise to anyone that did not respect our freedom of choice during this difficult time. We hope in given time you will understand that we felt a duty of care and wanted to protect everyone that crossed our doorstep, and this came before any economic thoughts.  

Please be aware: We will continue, as we have since reopening our doors in May 2021, requiring all customers (and staff) to wear face coverings when in the venue unless when sitting in your seat and eating or drinking in the auditorium. Exemptions still apply.

Until the 26th January 2022, you will still need to prove your Covid Status when visiting:

COVID-19 Status – What this means?

Throughout this guidance, valid COVID-19 status means any of the following apply:

  • a person is vaccinated with 2 doses of an approved vaccine (or one of the single-dose Janssen vaccine) – we will keep this under review as boosters are rolled out
  • or, they have taken a PCR or Rapid Lateral Flow Test within 48 hours prior to their screening
  • or, they are exempt on the basis of an approved medical exemption or clinical trial participation

Accepted proof can be any of the following:

  • a valid NHS COVID Pass (shown on your Smartphone or Physical NHS Pass Letter)
  • an approved international equivalent
  • a valid text or email confirmation of your recent test result - to obtain this, you will need to report your result to, so you can show your email / text at the door.

To make this work as smoothly as possible our host will check your Covid status outside the venue before you gain entry to the building and your actual ticket will be checked at the door of the auditorium.

So please have everything ready to be scanned / checked when you get to the head of the queue [our team will be there to remind you to have everything ready, as will some posters dotted about outside]

How do you get the Covid Pass?  If you are double vaccinated and have a smartphone, you can do this in less than five minutes. See this video for directions (it’s simple, and you may find you need it at more than just our venue)

Alternatively, if you do not have a smart phone, you can telephone 119, or visit the NHS website to have a physical copy of a Domestic Covid Pass Letter sent to you via the post.
