THE GREATEST FAIRY TALE NEVER TOLD.

It ain’t easy bein’ green – especially if you’re a likable (albeit smelly) ogre named Shrek. When Shrek (Mike Myers) discovers his swamp has been 'swamped' with all sorts of fairytale creatures by the scheming Lord Farquaad (John Lithgow), Shrek sets out with a very loud donkey (Eddie Murphy) by his side to 'persuade' Farquaad to give Shrek his swamp back. Instead, a deal is made. Farquaad, who wants to become the King, sends Shrek to rescue Princess Fiona (Cameron Diaz), who is awaiting her true love in a tower guarded by a fire-breathing dragon. But once they head back with Fiona, it starts to become apparent that not only does Shrek begin to fall in love with the lovely princess, but Fiona is also hiding a huge secret.

Shrek premiered at Cannes in 2001, where it competed for the Palme d'Or, making it the first animated film since Disney's Peter Pan (1953) chosen to do so. The film also won the FIRST EVER Academy Award for Best Animated Feature!
