A trio of young Asian-Americans try to figure out their (love) lives in this funny and touching adaptation of Adrian Tomine’s graphic novel.
Ben, Miko and Alice are highly attuned to how their ethnic backgrounds affect professional and romantic aspirations – which doesn’t make handling them any easier. Actor Randall Park’s (Fresh Off the Boat) directorial debut offers bittersweet observations on sexual and identity politics, plus whip-smart self-awareness of minority representation in US movies – in particular, a send-up of a recent Asian-themed hit.
