While travelling abroad together to avoid the media spotlight, Maria’s long-held forbearance finally gives way, revealing a startling inner strength. Mirja Turestedt excels in the lead role, while debut director Caroline Ingvarsson brings a refreshing female interiority to this bold adaptation of Håkan Nesser’s 2013 thriller The Living and the Dead in Winsford.
