The Dark Crystal: Back on the big screen

Jim Henson’s epic 1982 Fantasy-Adventure returns to London’s Prince Charles Cinema this March!

The unprecedented vision and mythic storytelling of Jim Henson’s 1982 epic fantasy-adventure “The Dark Crystal” returns to London’s Prince Charles Cinema this month, courtesy of Park Circus, The Jim Henson Company and Universal Pictures.

A milestone in fantasy filmmaking, “The Dark Crystal” was co-directed with Frank Oz (Little Shop of Horrors, Dirty Rotten Scoundrels) and produced by Gary Kurtz (Star Wars, The Empire Strikes Back).

Another world, another time… in the Age of Wonder. From genius filmmaker Jim Henson comes the fantastical story of The Dark Crystal. Many years ago, the mysterious Dark Crystal was damaged and an age of chaos began, led by the evil race of grotesque birdlike lizards, the Skeksis, who rule with an iron claw. Meanwhile the Gelfling orphan Jen, raised in solitude by a race of peace-loving creatures called the Mystics, embarks on a quest to find the missing shard of the Dark Crystal and restore balance to the universe.

Nick Varley, co-CEO of Park Circus, said “Park Circus always love to partner with our friends at the Prince Charles Cinema to bring classic films back to the big screen, where they belong. It’s hard to believe that it’s 35 years since The Dark Crystal was first released in the U.K. back in 1983, but what better place to see it back on the big screen than at London’s Prince Charles Cinema”

Head Programmer of The Prince Charles Cinema, Paul Vickery said: “We are proud of our reputation as one of the UK’s top independent cinemas, and itt’s always a pleasure to partner with Park Circus who share our love of bringing our favourite classics back to the big screen, and The Dark Crystal is no exception. Master, nothing is simple any more….but you should definitely come and see this epic fantasy-adventure at the Prince Charles!”
