After having been abandoned as a baby and shunned as a child, Patricia “Kitten” Braden (Cillian Murphy), a starry-eyed dreamer from a small Irish town, sets off for London in hopes of finding her long-lost mother. Along the way she’ll find herself falling for an IRA-affiliated glam rocker (Gavin Friday), working alongside a foul-mouthed Womble (Brendan Gleeson), and becoming glamourous assistant to an eccentric magician (Stephen Rea). But in a world that’s so intent on being serious, will Kitten manage to have any fun? 20 years after its initial release, Jordan’s film remains a powerful story about the search for love and acceptance in face of bigotry and intolerance.
