Rock ‘n’ roll upstarts Kelly, Casey, and Pet are The Kelly Affair, a small-town psychedelic band with big ambitions. Tired of playing high school proms, the girls set out for Los Angeles, where they catch the eye of the “teen tycoon of rock”, Ronnie "Z-Man" Barzell, who rebrands them as The Carrie Nations. Under Z-Man’s control, the group rockets to superstardom, but what price will they pay for their success? Hailed by John Waters as “a classic” and “ahead of its time”, Beyond the Valley of the Dolls is an outrageous send-up of showbiz melodramas, as well as a barbed satire of the “Swinging Sixties”.
