The next meeting of MUSIC VIDEO PRESERVATION SOCIETY at The Prince Charles Cinema is coming on Thursday June 11th. And it will be a celebration of pop videos with a special guest who is a master of the art and craft of the medium - the one and only Vaughan Arnell.

Vaughan has been creating indelible pop video magic since the Eighties, achieving early success with Terence Trent D’Arby, before hitting his stride in the Nineties, initially as half of a directing duo with Anthea Benton and then as a solo director, with videos for George Michael, Spice Girls, All Saints, Robbie Williams and more. Later he went on to make videos for a new generation of British pop stars - including One Direction and John Newman - with several promos scoring over a billion views on YouTube.

This year marks the 30th anniversary of two videos that raised the standard of UK pop‘s visual world to new heights: George Michael’s Fastlove, directed by Vaughan & Anthea, and Spice Girls’ Say You’ll Be There - the first by Vaughan as a solo director. So we will pay special attention to the period starting in the mid 90s when Vaughan’s work became part of the cultural landscape, reflecting the confidence and optimism of the time. And also show that these videos remain remarkably fresh - an object lesson to music video directors today on how to make pop videos built to last.

Vaughan will be talking to MVPS host David Knight about his work and influences - and telling a few good stories about the making of some jaw dropping videos that we will show on the big screen Downstairs at The PCC on the night.

As ever, there will be lots more besides at the 5th outing of MVPS at The PCC. More videos spanning the decades - including some of the best videos we’ve seen in the first half of 2026. There is a lot of choose from - including the sensational Romain Gavras-directed video for Gener8ion’s Storm.
